CARBON OFFSET YOUR NEXT PRODUCTION.
There’s no getting around it.
TV & Film production releases
significant amounts of CO₂ that contributes
to global climate change.
A $40mm+ feature film production
has an average carbon footprint of 1081 metric tons*
1081 metric tons of carbon is the equivalent of:
How it Works
Your film production, like any other business, creates carbon emissions.
Companies like our partner Oregon Biochar produce net negative carbon emissions – effectively removing carbon from the atmosphere.
1 CORC = 1 TON of CO₂ REMOVED
These net negative emissions are measured, verified, and registered by Puro.earth, a Nasdaq company.
PlanetHero™ allows you to pay for the process of creating these net negative emissions as a method to offset your carbon footprint. Learn more >
Your purchases result in CO2 Removal Certificates, called CORCs, that are “retired” on the Puro.earth registry to prove that you offset all or a portion of your shoot’s carbon footprint.
In addition to being listed publicly on Puro.earth, you will receive a certificate and a unique icon for use in your credits to show your carbon offset.
What is Puro.earth?
Puro.earth is the first carbon crediting program focused exclusively on carbon removals. It’s a pioneering initiative to make carbon removal robust and verifiable.
What is a CO₂ Removal Certificate (CORC)?
A CORC is an independently verified document that confirms that 1 metric ton of CO₂ has been removed and durably sequestered from the atmosphere using one of the removal methods certified under the Puro Standard. Our suppliers sequester more CO₂ than they emit with only net negative emissions being credited.
What is the relationship between Secret Weapon Studios and Puro.earth?
Secret Weapon Studios is a Puro.earth authorized CORC marketplace. We purchase CORCs directly from carbon removal companies and then retire them in the name of the the producers who purchase them from us. Puro.earth certifies the suppliers, the actual carbon removals, and records the retirement of the certificates, closing the loop.
How accurate is my carbon footprint estimate?
It is a rough estimate, nothing more. The carbon footprint of a film production can vary widely depending on several factors such as the size of the crew, the locations, the duration of the shoot, the equipment used, and the practices adopted by the production team. We are striving to make it easier to do something than to do nothing. If you would like a more accurate footprint assessment, please reach out to our team: email@example.com
How does my purchase increase carbon removal?
Buying CORCs creates an economic driver to accelerate the development of the carbon removal ecosystem today. Carbon removal suppliers receive a new revenue stream, which allows them to invest in R&D, operations, and sales.
What is Biochar?
Biochar is a highly porous, carbon-rich material made from organic matter that improves soil fertility, sequesters carbon, and enhances plant growth. Learn more
